Our very own Rose Auerbach-Tash worked closely with the neurosurgical team to contribute to an important paper that sheds light on enhancing patient outcomes in decompressive surgeries for Chiari Malformation Type I (CM-I). 
The abstract exhibits a compelling case of a 5-year-old girl who faced a challenging situation with acute right lower extremity monoplegia. However, through the dedication and expertise of our team, and the integration of Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM), we were able to provide her with excellent care. 
The results speak for themselves: after suboccipital decompression with expansile duraplasty and the use of IONM, the patient made a full recovery, regaining strength and mobility. 
This case highlights the critical role of IONM during decompressive surgeries for CM-I, especially in acute presentations with cervical cord edema. 
It’s a testament to our commitment to patient safety and the exceptional care provided at all the hospitals we work with.
